Research is the main axis that guides the organization of FEA’s activities. Undergraduate and graduate teaching as well as extension activities directly benefit from the knowledge accumulated by faculty members and students in their research activities. As early as the beginning of their course, students are encouraged in different ways to participate in the faculty’s research groups: scientific initiation grants, graduate fellowships, scientific meetings, awards and seminars are all stimuli to turn research into an organic part of student formation. The Foundations also further studies by elaborating databases and reflecting about the requests they receive from society. These often end up being used in the elaboration of monographs, dissertations, theses and scientific articles.

A wide range of subjects are investigated at FEA. Its researchers are guided by the attempt to acquire a deeper knowledge of Brazilian and international problems, develop innovative public policy proposals, attend to demands from the private sector and associations and, mainly, by a permanent preoccupation with being on the cutting edge of scientific knowledge. Therefore, they join in groups that develop research programs. Besides the faculty members’ individual production, which is presented on their sites, the research groups’ production can also be consulted on this webpage.
